In the years since the Un-official Request Apps Guidelines were first posted.
https://portableapps.com/node/4507
a lot of users have made their requests in this format.
It's been very useful to developers, and prevents a lot of repetitive posts asking for more details.
The problem is, a lot of new users don't follow it and we've recently had a wave of requests that are incredibly vague.
At least one user said they didn't realize that they should follow that guideline and that the post was hard to follow.
If you look at the Un-official Request Apps Guidelines, it is pretty wordy - which makes it difficult for non-english-speaking users. Also, it has a string of pointless comments attached, which add to the confusion.
Could one of the moderators clean that up, remove the comments, and make it Official?
Thanks.
That would be great. Especially if it could be made official.

I think anything that could potentially reduce forum "clutter" is a good idea. Along the lines of reducing forum clutter it might also be prudent to have a FAQ section linked to from the main menu, dealing with things like what can and can't be made portable, and basically directing people to the right sections of the website depending on what questions they want answered. I know this type of information is available here and there but users tend to like bite-size chunks that jump out and slap them in the face without too much effort.
I'll see about doing up a draft and maybe sending in to John for review on what he thinks, and also send a copy to a few others on irc.
