Error: there is no such archive

I have created a backup job with the following options (GUI in German):
- Typ: Komplett
- Format: 7-Zip
- Kompressionslevel: Keine (-> none)
- Sonstiges: Passwort, Test After Creation
- no rules
- Backup source is a complete directory on a memory stick
- Backup destination in an existing directory on the computer

As soon as I run this job I get the following output in the progress window:

10:27:21 Toucan 3.0.3
Date: 2010-12-03
Computer Name: ((snip))

Operating System: Windows XP (build 2600, Service Pack 3)
Erstelle Liste der Dateien, dies kann eine Weile dauern.

10:27:41 Error:
there is no such archive

Elapsed: 00:00:20

What am I doing wrong? If I do the same backup with the Typ: Differentiell then it works and I get the following message in the progress window:

10:39:18 Toucan 3.0.3
Date: 2010-12-03
Computer Name: ((snip))
Operating System: Windows XP (build 2600, Service Pack 3)

and the backup operation seems to complete successfully. To my understanding the full backup should exactly work the same as the differentiell, just the backuped information is everything not just the difference since the last backup.

Any suggestions what I am doing wrong, or is it a bug in the software?

P.S. For confidentiality reasons I have replaced all path and filenames by ((snip))

Latest Version?

Did you try using Toucan 3.0.4 to see if the problem exists there?

Or if you're already using it then there's a small bug in the log file. Oops!

I know there have been some problems in the past with languages other than English and particularly "special characters", but it doesn't look like that applies here.

3.0.4 = same problem

No I did not do this before, but I tried today with the version 3.0.4 again and I get more or less the same result. See following log information:

Date: 2010-12-09 13:50:40 Toucan 3.0.4
Computer Name: ((snip))
Operating System: Windows XP (build 2600, Service Pack 3)
Erstelle Liste der Dateien, dies kann eine Weile dauern.

Besides this I discovered also another problem. After displaying this error message the progress window is somehow stuck. The 2 buttons OK and Save are grayed out and the only active button is Cancel. But even pressing the Cancel button does not do any action. To close the progress window the only way is to press the red close button from Windows in the top right corner of the window frame.

I

think the problem might be that you are giving a folder rather than a file as the archive. A complete backup requires that you give it a filename to call the new backup. I will make sure there is a check in place in the future to make sure it can't happen.

filename as archive

thanks for the hint and sorry for the late answer. since i am specifing the filename as well it is working.

it would be nice though if Toucan could set the filename automatically if it is missing. for example following the same rules as it does for the extension files of the differential backup (i.e. yyyy-mm-dd_hh-mm.7z). i am keeping all backups of a certain fileset in the same folder, so it would be the best just to have the date and time as filename.

but one thing is still strange. the Progress window is all the time just enabling the Cancel button, the OK and Save buttons can not be used, even not after successfull completion of the backup job. the Progress window says "Everything is Ok", but still only the Cancel button is enabled and it does not even work. Pressing on the Cancel button does not close the Progress window, it can only be closed with the red X in the upper right corner of the window.
