We wouldn't stop development

We wouldn't stop development of software just because the site could be more spruced up. We check for viruses, etc. before releasing, so it's safe to download.

Who Cares?

Does the application work? Is it stable? Is it functionally equivalent to comparable counterparts? I think those are probably the most important questions to ask. A pretty website isn't very high on my list of must-haves as far as an application is concerned.

sorry - you did not catch the point

this IS a security issue, even if it has no virus in it:

as this progi is gathering accounting details, the developer needs to do the utmost to be believed as serious. That they are not doing, look at the web-page.
And by the way: the developer named themselfs media logic and had a quite old registration from germany, whereas they are not related to the german trademark-holder of media logic.

Frankly, I do not know, if they have any security-policy in here, but if portableapps is releasing that, and has no confirmed or rechecked privat address (which need not to be made public, btw) this is an security-issue with portableapps, as from that point, they are responsible. Hope you got it.

The look of a website is

The look of a website is irrelevant. Safer Networking has a terrible website, but their main app (Spybot) is incredibly popular.

More Complex

Martin, I can understand your reluctance, but there's no need to actually enter your account details to use the app as it has no online bank syncing features (it does let you enter your bank's URL so you can easily launch the homepage, that's about it). And I think you may be confusing it with another company. This is Metalogic Software, not Media Logic. They've been around for a while and are tested and hosted on many of the main freeware download sites as well.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

well

well,
if that's so, I am sorry for the noise, I am glad to read that it has no online-options, that was my point.

thanks

Just curious

Now that things have apparently settled down, did you ever actually install the program or read any of the help documents for the program?

still nothing trustful

of course I give it a try, and it does not function, I guess it is not working with Win2K anyhow, entering number will be multiplied by 100 etc , characters are displayed wrong, it has no jounal ... - all strange.

Anyway, I do not trust it, it installs a copy of the programm to the user /local/temp-dir, which remains when terminated, and has a rather useless way to start the internet for checking the bank with accounting-details online, which looks like something just for logging/phishing. Nothing prooven, so you at p.a. have to find out for you own, I would have stopped the release.

Many Apps

no longer support Win2K so the issues do not surprise me, perhaps if you do not like it you should uninstall it and stop with the innuendos?

Metalogic has its own forum

The concerns that you are talking about should be directed to the forums on the Metalogic site. I did see a post there that the software is supposed to be compatible with all versions of Windows back to Win98. It does list the software requirements, including MDAC 2.5 SP3 and IE6 SP1.
I have not found any complaints on the internet about the software. However, it actually has been tested by Softpedia and was declared 100% Clean as of Nov 29 2010.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
