AVE is the AutoStart Visual Editor. It allows you to quickly and easily add, remove or reorder items in AutoStart's inf file. This is the first release but it should all work.
Note that it is only designed for AutoStart generated inf files and may not work with all .inf files.
Get it here.
Enjoy
Steve
EDIT: 06.11.06 - 1.01 Uploaded with some minor bugfixes
Note that it is only designed for AutoStart generated inf files and may not work with all .inf files.
You mean, does not

I mean may not, it will work with many files but perhaps just not yours!

Sorry, though I am really looking forward to a tool that helps to modify the AutoStart shell - this one does not work properly for me.
It seems to cut off text sometimes and a few apps in the list are mixed up (wrong app under the lists entry).
One thing missing: the user should be enabled to move an entry up and down more than one step at a time and without any notification pop-ups (concerning what has been moved).

Note: I keep AVE and AutoStart in two different folders...
seems like a slightly older development version was uploaded. I'm putting up a new version now that should fix all of that.
Also could you email me a copy of your INI file so that I can do some testing to see why the string are cut off. If you go to the website there is a feedback link, just copy and paste it into there and I'll get it.
Thanks

Sorry for being a pain in the a*, but this time your program (v1.01) does not run at all (at least not for very long after choosing the file to open) but exits with a message that Windows (XP Pro) has detected a problem executing it...
Bye
zikarus
I just found that, seems to only be with your file though and I'm working on fixing that at the moment

I have found the problem! Basically in your INI file there is an entry
You need a line above that such as
Adding that should fix the crash. Any other problems please post.

I was unable to get the OpenOfficePortable.exe entry to appear in AutoStart (this specific .exe file, not calc or base, etc.).
I tried editing in AVE, deleting and adding a new entry in AVE, and I also took some stabs at editing the .inf file directly w/ Notepad, but failed there, as well. I also tried to move the OpenOfficePortable.exe "line" towards the top of the programs listing using AVE - but no success in having the program appear in AutoStart.
I'm not sure if it is an AVE issue or an AutoStart issue or an OOP issue.
Other than this peculiarity, AVE seemed to work quite well for me.
