RSS feed nolonger working ?

Hello all,

I'm a big fan of PortableApps.com and a happy user.

I use RSS to keep up with new apps, updates and news.

However, after december 26 I never received RSS messages anymore, even though there should be, because of all the Apps and news that was published on this site after that.

All my other RSS feeds work as expected.

Anyone else also seeing this ? Any suggestions on how to solve this ?

Greetings,

Chris.

Works Here

It's working fine here. And Google Reader picks it up just fine, too. You sure you're pointing at this? https://portableapps.com/feeds/general

Sorry, not here

Hello John,

I have checked the address, and it was already correct.

I saw that I had a limit on the number of messages, and I removed that now.
I don't receive the messages from december 27 through today (yet). But I'll wait a while to see if they wille come in tomorrow.

RSSOwl reports a malformed feed

Hello John,

I have tried to remove and re-add this feed. It still works erroneously.

I use RSSOwl for my RSS reader, and I noticed there was more information available on this error.

It sends me to this address: http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fportableapps.com...

There you can see why RSSOwl refuses to download the news.

Perhaps you could look into that ?

As I said, it used to be working fine, until around christmas.

[Valid RSS] This is a valid RSS feed.

You'll note that that page includes "[Valid RSS] This is a valid RSS feed." meaning that those messages are just simple warnings, nothing more. The feed is valid. If RSSOwl isn't parsing it, it's an issue with RSSOwl. There was an updated to RSSOwl right around Christmas. Is that when it stopped working?

RSSOwl

Yes, it stopped around Christmas. I'm not sure when was the last time I updated RSSOwl.

Funny thing is, it seems to be working again. No idea what has changed.

Mine works

Ashberry, I also use RSSOwl (under windows xp, windows 7, Ubuntu 10.10, and also portable) and I have no error with this RSS, check if what you have is just that the feed have no news to report (this feed report updated and new portable apps only so is not sooo active).

BTW, I also use have it subscribed on Google Reader and on my Cloud Services Notifications (an app for the new notifications area in Ubuntu -the envelope-) and it works fine, so fine that I'm going to remove the feed from RSSOwl and Google Reader (I just need to new when one of the apps I use is updated so I just need the notifications for that)...

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

One Feed Available

I thought John said that the main feed is the only one that is active now. All the other feeds shouldn't be used anymore, as far as I know.
