Seeking info

I haven't used this before but I read somewhere that it had a number f system hooks that made it impossible to be portable. Can you advise on the reality of the situation?

I don't know what that is

and a google search didn't show me anything that would tell me what it is.

But as far as I know, it's worked portably through my tests.

I did some testing today and

I did some testing today and found some keys left behind, or changed in my case as I have a local installation of FDM 3.0.

I did a regshot (here) and it showed some hijacked ie settings (browser integration). I don't know if they are easy to fix or if they were there if I didn't have a local install, too.

The other settings don't seem to inferfere with my local install.

thanks,
dj

wow

I think I need internet to test internet apps like this. That's a lot more than I thought. I mean, one or two, I probably missed.

10 is a lot.

I'm thinking this might be because you had internet, or that the installer placed those settings there and FDM detected them and did something, but I don't think that's likely. (I normally install into Sandboxie, then copy the program files onto my desktop).

/me will dig deeper into the matter.

It seems a bit more

It seems a bit more complicated. Without further testing, I think these keys are added, when I enter settings and when IE ist detected (maybe, when it is active...). I started FDM Portable, entered settings after the wizzard finished to balance network load and change some preferences, started IE and downloaded some files. Then I closed FDM Portable and IE and fired the second regshot.
My Firefox was not affected as I have the flashgot-extension installed (prevents FDMs settings from linking in).
I think it's similar to IrfanView which writes keys after the settings-dialog is closed (see here).

I'll do more testing when I have some time left (maybe this evening).
