Hello! This is my first release, Project 64, Portable Edition!
Basically, it's Project 64 in PAF format.
This is the free Nintendo 64 Emulator made portable!
I've tested it with a Hydro Thunder rom from one of my cartridges.
It worked perfectly!
If you have any questions, or if you can confirm if it writes registry entries, please just comment. I'll try to get back to you.
For more info, please visit the official PJ64 website, or use the CHM files in the main directory of the installation.

Download:
Mediafire: (1.6)
[Link removed, see note]
1.7:
[link removed, while project64 is freeware, you are still not allowed to redistribute binaries in modified form unless you have gotten specified permission from the devs of Project64, the permission you have isn't for redistributing Project64 1.7, remove those files and keep the launcher, the end user can put their own binaries of 1.7 if they have their own copy of the beta or of 1.6 - your neighbourhood moderator Zach Thibeau]
LINK UN- REMOVED, I GOT PERMISSION:

ORIGINAL MESSAGE FROM MODERATOR:
-note, I'm not sure yet if it still writes registry entries. I don't think it does.
Starting with 1.7 it won't.
I removed the link as it includes Project64, please not redistributing freeware without permission is usually a no no, it requires permission to redistribute Project64 in modified form, you can use an online installer which would download and extract the installer and put the contents into your package but to redistribute like this as I have said is against Project64's license

Um... I understand that, but I don't know how to make an online installer. Is there a good tutorial for building one?
Thanks.

You can do so with the [DownloadFiles] section of the installer.ini file.
hey so this leads me to a question
Does anyone know if installers write to the registry? or does the writing occur when you run the installed program?
I've been investigating doing pj64 for a time now, and problems arise in the fact you cannot natively extract the installer, it must be run using a /b argument to stick the cache elsewhere, the installer cancelled so it doesn't install, than you can access the .msi for pj64, however I think all of the dll plugins are compiled at install runtime because there are none in the installer, just lots of files named "_7594848923023928..." etc. etc. which a few contain text about plugins, others are random crap (text is probably SOME of the readmes, random junk is the plugins)
or, is it possible to delete and copy registry entries whilst using a PA installer?
or if the PA installer has some way to compile these random files? I know I'm probably reaching, its seems like its going to be very difficult to put together this installer. I may attempt portabilizing another emulator first
*edit
One more problem, to even run the installer, you need to be an admin! WOOHOO *facepalm*
"Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about Rock'n'Roll." -Shigeru Miyamoto
The whole admin thing is why I made this. AND I GOT PERMISSION!
Oh, and 1.7 doesn't use the registry of doom at all.
PROOF I GOT PERMISSION: (Picture)

So I can post the link again!
*EDIT*
And I dont need to worry about plugins because I got permission.

Would it not be better if it was posted in the beta testing forum as that is where new apps normally are introduced?
Oops. You're completely right. Will be moved ASAP.

Hi, ...
Not 100% portable.
1) The Rom directory link is not in the ".\PortablePJ64\", directory or sub-directory = please verify that you can made the "Rom" directory 100% portable.
On my computer, your portable software try to use the "C:\Emulateurs\RomStation\Games\Nintendo 64\" directory, not "$AppPath\Roms\".
Then use $AppPath\Roms\
2) The package contain files in the "Save" directory = please dont include savegame files, in the portable apps package, but keep the "Save" directory.
PortablePJ64\App\Pj64\Save
HYDRO THUNDER.pj
HYDRO THUNDER.mpk
3) I see that the emulator, is the v1.6 not the v1.7
that the permission was for the old version and that the creator had a newer version
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
He said that doesn't care at all.
Also a good idea to mention that the 'Project 64' is a Nintendo 64 game console emulator project!
I happily installed this thinking it was a Commodore 64 emu...
Project 64 is like Area 51 only 64bit compatible.
Uh- oh. I'll Delete the saves IMMEDIATELY and take what you said into account. I'll get 1.7 now. I made this a while back.
***UPDATE***
While i have not removed the save states from 1.6 yet, 1.7(beta) is ready to go!!!

You still fail to remove the binaries in each portable package, you may of gotten permission to make it portable, but you did not get permission to redistribute Project64 1.6 or 1.7
