Seems to be broken a bit...

Doesn't work here (WinXP SP3 Admin). When I try to download an iso, it states (in italian) that it doesn't find wget.exe. Language is a mix of italian and english, when I switch to another language and restart, everything is in italian and stays so even if I try to revert it.
I don't know wether these bugs come from the base apps or are issues of portablization.

It seems to be a very interesting app though, I like the idea of having several isos on one medium.

Hi, i'm the developper of

Hi, i'm the developper of SARDU.
SARDU choose the language from version of Windows. If the language don't exists sets the english language. The file language.ini must be deleted from the folder of SARDU.
If don't find wget ....is present SARDU_1 file? Any antivirus see SARDU_1 as virus, this is a false positive of SuperGrub.
I don't know why the change language of portable don't works fine, if you set from ..\App\SARDU.exe works fine
Feedback are welcome

Working Directory

Could it be a working directory thing?

Yup

Thanks that was it. I never defined a working directory... Didn't think it needed it.

Most Apps Do

Most apps do. Maybe not most, but many. Most apps define one in the shortcuts for Windows.

Attention to the spaces in the path

attention to the spaces in the path.
Try to put the foder of portable in the root or in a folder without space.
Wget.exe is a dos software...if there is space...can result errors

DOS programs don't have

DOS programs don't have problems with spaces in paths. What you're thinking of is passing parameters to executables in the CMD.

Tested with spaces

I've tested the spaces and they work fine. It was just the working directory thing.

Very good! It works now. Nice

Very good! It works now. Nice app.
Many thanks for making this portable!

I have one recommendation, though. The ISOs are now stored in Data. Even if it's a debatable point if the ISOs, which may be considered part of the programs functinality, are personal settings, they do add to the size of the backup. I normally do a backup of settings only for it is faster and smaller, but now it contains all ISO data making it BIG!
So I defined a folder in Documents as ISO path, but the setting gets overwritten by the launcher every time.
Another thing: creating an ISO or burning to CD/DVD creates folders in the app\sardu directory (CDRecord and ISO\isolinux). It doesn't break portability, but one could consider them temp-files as they are created everytime when looking for a writer or making a new iso. The isolinux folder containes the whole ISOs content (about 4GB in my case), mostly useless data. I didn't check, if the files were re-used if the isos are unchanged. But often the isos maybe updated before (as some antivir isos).
It could be a convention to delete these when closing just to save space, but thats only my personal preference.

This program does some odd stuff...

I noticed it was making a bunch of random files, but not the ISO's. I haven't actually created a disk using the portable version... Mostly still testing the functionality...

I'll see if I can't do a workaround for a custom ISO directory in SARDUPortable.ini (the one you put int he root folder). It's kind of odd how that setting is stored and operated on. Currently the launcher just writes the entire path to the settings file...

The help file will also see a pretty large overhaul. I'm going to put a lot in there about custom directories an warnings of the large file sizes. Probably a how to switch them as well.

John and I were talking about where to store the ISO's on #portableapps. He agreed that they are technically Data and therefore belong there. Although he said we could redirect them somewhere in Documents if it was easier. I'm thinking Documents\ISO would be good, however that won't work if people aren't using the menu. Maybe an option in the installer asking if you wanted to store it in Documents or Data. Data being selected with default and an explanation as to why you would want either in the description field.

Any chance of an update?

I use it by just copying the new base app's file in the App folder and replacing the links.ini/txt. But I don't know if that's all as the base app seem to have evolved a bit internally.

Yeah

Sorry I haven't been checking in a lot lately; I just started a new job. I should be able to get an update up this weekend I didn't realize that anyone was really interested.
