SkypePortable forgets login credentials when swapping machines

Hi folks!

I'm using SkypePortable with www.dropbox.com and everytime I launch SkypePortable on the other machine (Windows Vista and Windows 7) it can't find the login credentials, although I've marked 'automatically login on launch'.

The directory where the app resides on Windows 7 is
"C:\Users\Thasmo\Documents\My Dropbox\Applications\PortableApps\SkypePortable"

I believe Dropbox on Windows Vista has a different path
and so the path to SkypePortable is different:
"C:\Users\Thasmo\My Dropbox\Applications\PortableApps\SkypePortable"

So, I'm not sure about the path - I will double check on Monday,
but maybe someone of you already has a solution for this.

Thanks a lot!

Path Change

Skype Portable can't handle relative path changes, so you'll lose it. A good chunk of apps don't support path changes. Technically, we don't support it at the platform or app level and never have. We will later this year, though.

I would suggest defining paths for DropBox on both computers that are the same. C:\PortableApps for instance.

Alright, thanks for your

Alright, thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately Dropbox doesn't provide
an install option or application setting
for declaring a specific path.

At least it's not officially supported I think.
Maybe I can find out more on the Dropbox forums.

Thanks!

Additional Directories

I believe a couple versions ago they added the ability to sync additional directories. That's how you would accomplish this. I don't have the information handy, though.

Tah Dah!

Right click DropBox system tray icon -> Preferences -> General -> "Dropbox Folder Location". Bob's your uncle.
