start.portableapps.com and Chrome

Quick Question. I use Iron and use the address bar for all my searching (instead of going to a search engine first).

Chrome allows you to add sites to the search engine list and select a default. (for example, I have Walmart, amazon, and imdb all set as searchable, by beginning to type and then hit "tab".

Can I add start.portableapps.com to this list? Anyone have any insight?

More Info Please

Isn't that just a customized, branded Google search page? What advantage would there be to using that over the default search?

What is it that you want to be able to do?

Okay

That's fine. My point was that there's no need to use the default Google search and the PortableApps Google search. Use one or the other, not both. Naturally, PortableApps might be the better choice.

Yes you can

This article from lifehacker does a good job of explaining that procedure as well as many others.

Right click your url bar, click edit search engines, then add, then enter the info below:

Name: PortableApps Search
Keyword: ?pa
URL: http://www.google.com/custom?q=%s&sa=Google+Search&client=pub-3282017654522212&forid=1&cof=GALT:%23008000;GL:1;DIV:%23FFFFFF;VLC:551a8b;AH:center;BGC:FFFFFF;LBGC:FFFFFF;ALC:0000cc;LC:0000cc;T:000000;GFNT:0000cc;GIMP:0000cc;LH:50;LW:312;L:http://external.portableapps.com/images/google_search_portableapps_logo.png;S:http://;FORID:1&hl=en

You can change the name to whatever you want, and the keyword is also irrelevant. I simply like to put a ? before searches and a ' before any commands. Copy the URL exactly.

Got it

I actually got it yesterday, just haven't had time to put my resolution in yet.

You just have to search and replace the search terms with a '%s'. Easy enough. I'm just not sure if it's using Google or counting it as a hit on start.portableapps.com. John gets some $$ anytime someone uses it.
