personally would not trust him, unless the program is open-source, in which case I would download the source, check for any "bugs" (e.g. viruses) and then build myself.

Based off of USBDumper. I would stay away.
Could you elaborate. It this a test you did? Did you find something in the download?

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
I just followed the links you gave on the U3 forum. One of them states:
"The USB Hacksaw is an evolution of the popular USB Switchblade that
uses a modified version of USBDumper, Blat, Stunnel, and Gmail to automatically
infect Windows PCs with a payload that will retrieve documents from USB drives
plugged into the target machine and securely transmit them to an email account."
Scary, but it seems this type of thing is very easy to do. USBDumper has been out how long? A few months? Already it has been modified this much.
No, never trust "hacked software"
The Universal Updater is a hacked version of Memorex's U3 Updater.
However if you would like to make your own updater,
I have posted instructions here.
U3 Updater Instructions
** Note the Memorex version forces a format of the U3 drive **
** So backup your drive first **

I agree that you should not use software hacked by someone else. I would never do it.
I want to point people to your site, however I could not find any contact information on the site (e.g. About Me, Personal Web site, Support or contact email).
I want to be able to tell people that you are a more trustworthy source to use but feel that if your provide contact information on your site it would be easier for me to do. If it is there I could not find it. If it is not could you provide.
I think you will get a lot of visits.
