Looks interesting

are you the creator or are you asking for this to become portable? What is the licensing for it?

A look at the name implies

A look at the name implies that. (try http://manuelbarzi.com/)

I had a look at it, and while it is - behind its beautiful surface- just a tool for one photographic effect, it is really fun. I played with it for about half an hour, and was amazed at the combination of easy operation and professional results. Parameters are a limited to very few presets, but that seems to be design philosophy.

I like it!

@manuelbarzi:
Have a look at the development section, there are some tools to make portablization easy and a format description of the PortableApps.com Format. Or maybe someone can take over the portablization?

@depp.jones > thank you for your comments, depp. i will take a look at your suggestions on development section. actually i was a bit confused with them inside the forum, where to start with. just a quick preview: is it easy to make a simple executable exe or jar (java) file to make it portable in portableapps.com format way?

Hence

my questions I could easily set this up for the user, guess in a round about way I was asking permission to do so. Especially since the Linux version is a jar file would not take much at all

yes

@vf2nsr > thank you for your answer. yes, i am the creator, and i am asking "what to do to become portable as portableApps.com requires so Pola can be added to your software listings" that's my main question. the licensing for it is FREE software (donations are accepted from users).

Bring on the roids

I guess I'll have to try this one to truly understand what it's all about because honestly from a quick glance it looks like nothing more than something I could rustle up in Gimp in about 10 minutes.

This is more a suggestion to the author than anything but perhaps a demonstration video might prove more informational than screenshots in this particular instance.

tried it?

@Darkbee > thank you, sir, for your comments too. i guess Pola seems an "easy thing" for you, but then you are ignoring the image processing it takes place inside, in which Pola treats images and converts them to Polaroid-like, being very faithful to the original Polaroids effects, vintage effects, etc. more with it Pola provides cartridges that process images as real cartridges used to do. of course, this is digital world, so it's always a proximity to real, but never real. that's why "Polaroid-like". currently there's a video i posted in youtube, you can find in Pola site http://www.pola-roid.net. but this video is low-resolution and does not show clearly the effects. may you take a loot at Pola flickr group to confirm the effects, or trying Pola yourself. it's really very easy and no installation is required.

inexperience in portabilization yet

thank you, very much, Sirs for your comments and information, and sorrry for my inexperience in this topic.

currently Pola has 3 executable (no installation required) distributions:

- Pola.exe for win
- Pola.dmg for mac
- Pola.jar for x-platform

the only requirement to the user is to have at least java 1.4 installed on his systems. that's all.

i wonder if Pola.exe is enough to be considered Pola a portable application. is it?
i was doubting about it so i wanted to know if more things should be done for Pola to be "trully portable", more than it is already know.

Pointing to Java

Hi Manuel. We're not accepting Java apps just yet but will be shortly. The only requirement is that the apps have to be able to use our portable Java runtime, that way it is portable. A portable package can be built to do that using your JAR version and the PortableApps.com Launcher 2.1 Beta 2 release available in the Development section.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

cool! great thing...

yeah! now i understand it perfectly. it has all sense that java apps can be 100% portable if a portable jre is included with them.

great, then, i'll see this launcher in dev section, and keep waiting for the stable release with patience Wink

thank you, very much, John, for your answer.
