I see is that loading a cam requires drivers be written to the host computer,so although manycams might be possible to make portable how would you make portable the cam drivers?

but is it possible to just make the drivers delete itself?
The drivers allow the computer and the camera to talk and would need to be installed before starting, and uninstalled after ending the program, both of those actions need Admin rights which makes portablizing rather difficult if not impossible (depending on the app)
I have not looked at this app specifically myself, and thus don't know to what extent it needs drivers (or what drivers) and how easy/difficult it would be to portablize it.
I'm just saying: "If an App needs drivers, Don't get your hopes up regarding it's portability".

Are you sure that to use the camera need admin rithgs? VLC Portable (from this site) works without admin righrs and it can capture video from my camera properly.
I’ve been using (and happy with) ManyCam in the past, but I’d assume this is almost impossible to portablize.
As far as I remember, it registers itself as kind of "the master WebCam", simulating a WebCam for Windows. This pseudo-WebCam can than be fed with video streams from video cards, TV cards, and other webcams. Also, these streams can be overlaid with station logos, backgrounds, newsticker bands, and even Darth Vader masks (with automatic face movement recognition).
So its kind of a driver plus an application that requires other drivers … much too much effort for "portable", I think. But a nice thing for install on some dedicated machine.
I don't think that it's necessarily that working with admin rights is hard, it's that having admin rights is far from guaranteed particularly if you use public computers in libraries, Internet cafes or school etc. Those types of computers will almost always be locked down and so you won't be able to use your app. So in that situation there would be little point in having it portable if it's useless on the vast majority of computers you'll be using.
EDIT: I should add that I think that apps that require admin rights to install drivers are now a bigger problem with Win 7 because I believe that the drivers have to be digitally signed which costs money, something which lone developers of freeware/open source software may not be prepared or able to spend money on.
are there public computers with webcams? I am trying to recall, but I've never seen them there.
I am trying to think, that even in my university that has some of the newer macs with a webcam in it, it is disabled.

Есть анальгичная но платная программа WebcamMax. Её прекрасно удается сделать портативной. И все нормально с драйверами. А еще есть бесплатная splitcam но её портативную я не нашел.
WebcamMax Analytics software exists but it is paid. It managed to be perfectly portable. And everything is fine with the drivers. And there's also a free Splitcam, but I didn't find it portable, and so is the ManyCam Portable download.
