Hi everyone:
I tried whole night is testing firefox portable.
After installed , there is a firefox portable.exe, of course , which is open firefox.
However in the APP->firefox folder, there is other firefox.exe and I clicked, it run as other profile, and I can not find out what is diffrent.
In the APP->firefox folder-> firefox.exe, I can not see any other profile forder for it.
Please tell me, if you know that both firefox.exe the diffrence
Thanks
If you run firefox.exe, you are effectively running an installed version of Firefox and it is no longer portable. If you look on your windows installed partition in the user documents (probably the C: drive) then you will see a Firefox profile. FirefoxPortable.exe must be used to launch firefox.exe or portability will break. The portable executable is what makes sure that nothing is left behind on the host system, it redirects all of Firefox's profile, cache and other output, and cleans up after Firefox once you close the application.
I hope this is clear, as (almost) all PortableApps applications work this way; two executables and one is a launcher that must be run first.
Thanks very much!
I got it
Thanks for your help.
I should come to ask earlier.
O! Man , I waste all whole night can not find out the problem.
Thanks again.
FirefoxPortable.exe is not actually Firefox, it is another program that runs in the background which makes Firefox portable.
If you run Firefox from the .exe in app/firefox, it is as if you were running a local version of firefox, it will use all of your local install's settings, and if you don't have a local install it will either create local settings, not work properly, or a combination of the two.
Running from the FirefoxPortable.exe is the correct way to run the app, as the portable .exe backs up all your local settings, installs your portable version's settings, then runs Firefox. On closing it backs up your portable version's settings to your portable device and then re-installs your local settings, so it leaves the computer as if your portable version had not even been run.
Thanks for your help.
You guys are perfect.
thanks
You were ninja'd.
