Can Power Desk be made portable?...

Well, Mijenix's-->Ontrack's-->Kroll's-->now V-com's/Avanquest's "PowerDesk" is the best File Mgr/Windows "Explorer" substitute that I've ever seen or used, bar none.

Anyway, if the free version is installed, and then the directory burned to a CD (haven't tried it yet on a memory stick, but expect results'd be similar), it's pretty darn usable as it is.
However, a fraction of the time, it will complain about not having some library file it needs, and it will then go on to work once you click "OK". - but it will then bring up the same message every time you change directories with it. Quite annoying.

So, what are the possibilities, folks, of y'all coming up with a version of V-Com's "Power Desk 6" (free version ,of course) that's fully portable (all libraries included in the app's directory, and is able to recognize and use them w/o user interaction)?...

Looking fwd to your responses...

Must be open source.

To be even considered, programs must be open source and free.

"Free Trial" is not open source and really isn't free.

@wsm23:

Didn't know about the open-source requirement (though it kinda makes sense...)
Bummer.

As to being "really" free, PD free IS 'really' free - no time-limits or significant feature limitations. Believe me, you don't stay long on MY computer if you ain't 'really' free (unless you're a commercial proggy that I AM willing to pay money for, and I have a few of those).
Ironically. I *do* have the commercial version of the program, but it's 2 versions old. I just don't see the sense in paying good $$ for a proggy whose free version has almost the same functionality. Also - being an honest bloke - I can't legitimately run commercial PD on more than two of my various PCs, so I use the free version on all but one of 'em. I barely notice the difference. The only obvious sign of its being "non-free" is a small, unobtrusive banner that runs just above the bottom edge of the proggy window. And unlike most such items, this one doesn't run a bunch of different ads. it's simply a static, unchanging banner touting the commercial version, and fairly small at that.
