Hi, folks!
I just absolutely love PortableApps, and am eagerly awaiting the newest 2.0 release (beta or stable) I am currently using the 2.0 Beta 5 Pre 2 release. I have almost all of the PA.c programs installed (though I don't use all of them, I'd like to try them, y'know?), as well as several other natively portable apps.
Within the last few days, the PA platform has stopped reading the .exe files of a handful of non-PA.c apps that it used to read just fine.
For instance, I have PaleMoon.exe in the PaleMoon directory under PortableApps. I have tried refreshing the app icons at least a dozen times, and PaleMoon doesn't show up. I have noticed several other apps not showing up, as well, that used to show up, but the PaleMoon is the one that I remember at this moment.
What might cause this?
Also, within the same time frame of a few days, PA has stopped changing my wallpaper to show the files under Pictures/Wallpaper, and has reverted to requiring the file Pictures/portableapps_wallpaper.bmp. Now, I may be mistaken on the behavior before (I had been using Geek.menu for a while, and may be thinking it was PA using the Pictures/Wallpaper directory when it wasn't), but the actual CHANGE in behavior only occurred a few days ago, and I've been using PA exclusively for over a month now.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the phantom .exes not showing up? Or on whether I'm going senile regarding the wallpaper source directory?
Thank you for all the hard work y'all put into this wonderful platform! I first discovered PA a few years ago, and, though I may stray on occasion, I always find myself coming back to PortableApps!
Thats strange because normally the platform doesn't change its behaviour without interaction.
One thing you could try is this: Close the platform, rename X:/PortableApps/PortableApps.com/Data to X:/PortableApps/PortableApps.com/Data2 and restart it. This will make it rescan for all apps even the ones you maybe told it to hide or rename. It the apps show up then, you have to re-customise the menu and can delete the Data2 folder. If it doesnt work, close the platform, delete the /Data folder and rename /Data2 back to /Data.
Hope that helps.

Renaming 'Data' so the platform would recreate it let the platform recreate it, like you said. But the PaleMoon.exe (the one I have fixed in memory right now, and easy to spot) still didn't show up. It didn't help, but at least it didn't hurt; I was easily able to put it back the way it was. But thank you for the idea!
As for interaction, I'm not a coder by any means, and I haven't been poking around in the innards of the platform or fussing with the options or anything, other than playing with the themes.
I'm thinking that a re-install of the platform might be what I need to do.
Thank you!

The current PA.c Platform only supports that single wallapaper bmp you mentioned. (as well as additional ones depending on screen size) The ability to select from a directory of wallpapers is planned for an upcoming release.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
It's good to know that the wallpaper issue is just me and my faulty memory, and not a sudden glitch in the platform.
Does anyone have any further thoughts on why the platform isn't reading that handful of .exe files in a few first-level program directories?

...\App\AppInfo\appinfo.ini
specifies info about the app, if it is present, and says that there is0
icons then PA.c Menu will not show any (or if it lists only some of multiple ".exe"s only those listed will appear in the menu). If it is not present, then PA.c Menu should display all the .exe files in that AppNamePortable directory, but if it isn't (I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't), you might try adding an...\App\AppInfo\appinfo.ini
and (using the information available here as a reference) tell it to add those files to the menu.Other than that I can only guess that it's a bug of some sort, and suggest you give a more detailed report. (and you might perhaps want to try renaming the whole PortableApps.com folder to something else [as a backup like when you renamed Data to Data2 before], and download & install again)

Putting in the \App\Appinfo\appinfo.ini file did the trick for PaleMoon! Now all I need to do is go through all my apps and the PA menu, and find out which other non-PA.c apps would benefit from the same treatment.
Thank you all so very much! 8-D
