Why not get excited about some news/hints/screenshots?

I wouldn't call a progress update "AWESOME"
Looking at John's post that is what it is, a progress update.
I would be very surprised if it was the platform, very surprised indeed.
if it brings productivity enhancements/improvements then awesome could very well be the term as PA.com almost certainly is living up to it's name.
Many an app here I've downloaded I've not only learned more about my system, found other apps from people as well as the original developers.
All in all a great place even for just information.
In fact I no longer go to any of the original forums as everything I need is right here.
It would be great if the PortableApps.com Update: 62 new apps, SF issues, platform schedule link at the top of the forum page was changed to point to here: https://portableapps.com/node/26705 rather than https://portableapps.com/blogs/johnhaller/2011-02-01_status_update.
It might even be better and easier if the link was titled PortableApps.com Status Report
