Hello,
Could some one please confirm this: with the new Chrome it seems that I can't update the installed extensions. The update now button doesn't do anything.
I didn't try more extension: I use Adblock and the only way to use the latest version was to uninstall it and install the latest but that means I have to re-make all the settings and custom filters.
I do not remember having this issue with v 8.
Cheers.
I just tried it on a fresh install and it works fine for me. Anything odd about your install? Have you tried a fresh install (just install it alongside) and see if that works? It could be the dreaded 'something is different about your computer so Chrome won't work right and no one knows why' bug, too

I've had this (or similar) bug crop up a few times on my installed copy of Chrome, so it's not specifically a Google Chrome Portable bug. Generally I manually reinstall (uninstall then install again) AdBlock & AutoPager, then it auto-updates all my extensions fine for an undefined amount of time.

Thanks for the input.
I did a "fresh" install (on Vista with UAC - forgot to tell that my USB stick is NTFS) of it and reinstalled the extensions so I couldn't actually reproduce the bug but encountered another one... I couldn't install one of the extensions (Chrome SEO) but I could check some of the messages in the console using Tools / Developer tools which seems similar to the firefox console2 and they were saying t hat couldn't access a certain object/link.
Later on I tried on a WinXP machine and I could install that extension too with no problem.
I will try and see if something comes up in the console next time I try to update one extension.
What bugs me now is that using this fresh install, chrome is definitely slower than the one in the older folder (maybe some old settings I did set worked better).
Lately I was leaning towards chrome because firefox is dead slow on my stick (OO also if we are there), but that is, I think, because I exported a lot of settings, extensions and themes from my PC (I think the profile is from when ffx was 0.x version ) and with newer version it got slower and slower.
Cheers.

I don't know if this is causing your problems or not, but in general USB FlashDrives should be in FAT32 format.
There is at least 1 issue with Vista/7 using NTFS formatted "Removable Drives" which often causes inaccessibility problems.
John T Haller describes the way to fix it in This Post:
That should fix that issue (if that's what's causing your problems) but there might be other issues I don't know about, or I guess it might not have anything to do with NTFS.

What 3D1T0R wrote. If something works on XP but not Vista/7 and the drive is NTFS, it's nearly always a permissions issue on the drive.

You wrote that it's (likely) what I wrote, yet what I wrote is a quote of what you wrote.

Did you check whether it is NTFS and any settings as requested? If not, I'm going to close this bug.
