Description: Torrent Search is a torrent searching application developed in Python, and using GTK+ for its graphical interface. Torrent Search is available under Linux and Windows. Torrent Search looks for torrent files on different websites, and allows the user to filter the results, making it very easy to find the torrent you want. The websites are integrated using plugins, allowing to add new websites or improve the existing plugins very quickly.

I installed TorrentSearch and tried it out. The install was fairly seamless but after installing the program and running it (I apologize for not looking right after the install) I noticed that it left a directory in the Applications folder of Documents and Settings (WinXP SP3 Operating System).
The TorrentSearch Folder had subfolders for each one of the torrent sites (PirateBay, etc.).
This should be fixed.

Why all those checksums? Just because you can?
MD4 and MD2 are obsolete. Haval is still somewhat exotic and rarely used. Whirlpool is overkill, takes longer to verify files then to download them. If you think you really must have multiple checksums, CRC32, MD5 and SHA1 aught to do it. They are the ones most commonly used.

If he's using the pa.com installer, it has CRC checks that verify the installed before it even starts working.

Tried the latest release.
Here's the message I receive at the end of the install;
"This installer copies a local version of the application and makes it portable. Unfortunately, a local copy of the application was not found. You may reinstall or copy the files yourself to complete the installation at a later time. (C:\Program Files\Torrent-Search could not be found.)
The whole idea of a portable program/installation is not to have to write to the main hard drive (say on a company computer subject to IT dept. snooping) during an install.
Windows itself does not allow this. Plus, IT can watch the network traffic going to your machine and even block torrent usage at the network level.

You can remove the links to the old dev tests, and you only needs MD5 sums, and maybe sha256. At the very least, please remove whirlpool as it is overflowing the site boundaries please.

may you please not have the installer copy local files? it will be easier to use it right after installing instead of having to install a local copy then installing the portable copy and waiting for the local files to copy over.

From version 5, the installer will not copy the installed torrent-search's files.
I am running Fix-It 11 with built-in virus and malware scanning and when I downloaded and attempted to install the latest version of Torrent Search the anti-virus program blocked the install, removed the program from the folder and placed it into a Quarantine folder. There was a warning message that a virus was detected.
I want to point out that I have installed >2 Gb of PortableApps on flash drives and this is the first time this virus detect/warning/quarantine has occurred.
Has anyone else had this issue occur?
What changes did you make to the latest version (previous versions did not have this issue).
This is not a panic-post. Your files are indeed infected, I've confirmed the presence of a virus via basic malware checking. It utilizes MUI cache and MRU to gain knowledge of where your executables are, and infects them. Your system is likely to be entirely infected, because this thing spreads through your recently used executables very quickly.
As a confirmation, the last upload is considered infected by 37 out of 42 major AV vendors! That clearly suggests it's not a false positive. See report for torrent-search.exe from Dev Test 5 (uncompressed):

sapioit, please remove the link to Dev Test 5 immediately and scan your computer. All users who downloaded Dev test 5 should scan their computers as well.

Removed with confirmation (checking the installer direct from SourceForge; not such a high hit rate as when extracted, but still thoroughly high enough for the dangerous type of malware it is).
sapioit: there are now two reasons why you must remove these files from SourceForge. Violation of SourceForge TOS in containing closed-source non-redistributable software, and containing malware (closed-source malware, too :P).
Anyone feel like going through the rest of sapioit's releases to check them? (I checked BitShare and MultiUpload quickly, seem to be clean.)

I just ran Torrent Search Dev 1 and 0.92 Dev 4_With compression through both Clam and Trend Micro Office Scan (An industrial grade anti-virus we use at work).
Both of these programs gave the Dev 1 and Dev 4_With compression clean readings.
My best guess (Based on Dev's 1 and 4 being clean)is that the virus issue appeared with Dev 5.

I would consider this project dead.
The dev hasn't been seen here since February, and hasn't updated anything on his sourceforge account since March. Also, he was caught on two occasions breaking sourceforge policy (by hosting non-open source apps), and, as you can see here, packaged malware infected apps.
If you really must have it, do a search on sourceforge, his files may still be there. But there are no guarantees as to portability, as you can see above, when notified of folders being left behind, he never actually said it was fixed, but just that other things had been modified.
