Copying a Google Map as an Image & then editing by adding notes to the image

Howdy,

I want to copy a Google Map to either my hard drive or flash drive and save it as an editable document or image. I want to take that document or image and add little comments, notes and arrows to it. I'm then going to upload it to a Google Site as a static page (not a link). Do we have any app(s) that can help me do this, or does anyone know how to do it?

Google Maps Editing

I think I found my answer. Google Chrome has a Screen Capture extension that lets me place sticky notes on a JPEG or PNG file. If anyone knows of a portable app that would work when I have to use someone else's computer (without chrome on it) I'll download it.

Screenshot

Probably the best way to achieve this would be to take a screenshot of the map. Lightscreen Portable allows you to choose a screen area and save it as a .jpg, .bmp, .png, etc.

Then take that image into GIMP or your favorite portable photo editor (there are several). Or, you could use Libre Office Draw Portable (Similar to visio)and import your picture there.

Good luck

irfan

I use now for simple things the irfan, does excellent job for simple fast copy paste, rotate etc ops. Opens fast, takes low computer power, much faster the any of the big once like gimp. Well if all should be properly edited, then gimp would be the thing to go for.

print screen is on every computer, so noreal need to make it portable, but if special screen capture is needed, I have this light screen on my stick.

This does more advanced screen capture ops.

And for adding notes to some pictures, if it should go fast and simple, I used after long time recently at work the famous paint which is also on all windows machines included I think.

google earth

If you have Google Earth, there is a function to save the map view as an image. If you want the map view and not just the satellite go here:

http://www.gelib.com/google-maps.htm

Then click on "Download With Google Earth."
