Portable Macro Utility

I would like to request a Portable Macro (Automation) Utility - such as Keyboard Express; It would make things tremendously easier on any computer from a thumb drive! And Keyboard Express is fairly small in file size Wink

Any Automation software will do!! (need to type a lot of repetitive things for a long time, every day!)

Yes!!! but probably not

Luv Keyboard Express !!!
/* drool Blum */

Don't think it's opensource, or even free Sad At least it wasn't when I first got it. Been using it for years [v. 2.7b, very old for sure, but it works].
Definitely not portable as is, I have to reenter my license key every time I move it Sad

Take a look at freeware

Take a look at freeware WinMacro at the following website:
http://www.geocities.com/win_macro/download.html

It may suit your needs.

It records it's macro code

It records it's macro code to a file you specify and doesn't touch the registry except the usual suspects (MRUList, etc).

These two programs don't do the same thing. Keyboard Express records and plays back keyboard macros. WinMacro records only a single macro of the keyboard and the mouse and can only record or playback that one thing. It also has more limitations.

AutoHotKey is more like what you're looking for. It's Open Source and can record keyboard macros. It's been posted about in these forums a bunch. Only problem is it doesn't have a fancy GUI to record/setup macros. You'll have to learn some AHK coding to git-r-dun.

I just downloaded this,

I just downloaded this, http://www.pendriveapps.com/tinytask-free-macro-recorder/ It's just an application, no installation required, works great on portable drives. I am not trying to promote this site, I'm actually a big fan of portableapps.com, just was in need of a portable macro app and stumbled upon this request while searching g00gle for a portable macro app (initially I actually searched google with site:portableapps.com included but to no avail). Hope to see a portableapps macro app in the future but for now that other link should help. The huge plus for me on that app is the low file size (great advantage for those running off a smaller usb key).

Could anyone works with VBA macros?

Microsoft Excel - VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)

Is there any "translator-converter-reader"
from "MS Excel VBA" to "OpenOffice Calc Basic"?

MS VBA - OpenOffice Basic

I remember reading that the Open Office Developers were supposed to be working on 'compatibily' with VBA for the 3.0 release, but I've never had much success.

I've already searched (unsuccessfully) for 3rd-party tools that might help. If anyone had had significant success, I suspect it would show in the OOo User Forums and, probably, as an OOo add-on/extension.

I tried and searched many times as well

Main reason to not using OO, because macros works only in MSO. No other office suite can do that correctly. (Last versions I tried) So. No solution so far Sad (Go-OO.org, IBM Lotus Symphony, Oracle OO.org, LibreOffice) - no working VBA. (Google Docs, AbiWord-Gnumeric, Zoho Office, MS Office Web Apps) as well not run macros from Excel. Is there any app really compatible with MSO? Pls help if You know something.
