Using lots of extensions...

I've seen a few posts and comments concerning the lifespan of flash drives and number of read/writes to them. I've never known that this could be an issue, as I was under the impression that read/write cycles weren't detrimental to a solid-state device. My question now becomes this: With the following list of extensions that I'm using, does anyone think one or some may cause excessive wear on my drive that will shorten the life of it?

I would not consider 4 to be a lot. I would consider 72 to be a lot.

So to answer your question, you'll be fine.

Wow... this after being told

Well there is about 5 more that I use, but I know they don't cause read/write cycles at all. But... Wow... this after being told by the Flock team that "only 5% of Firefox users actually download and use extensions". I can't even fathom a need for more than maybe 10-15. If you've got time on your hands, just to stifle my extreme curiosity, share with me what all you're using? (mod--feel free to move this thread to an "off topic" section if you like)

When you say "generated,"

did you use an extension to generate it, or did you do it yourself?

Hard core is taking the time

Hard core is taking the time to browse the addons site for any extension with a rating of 4 or better, deciding which ones to install, installing them, then adding the "New Firefox Extensions" and "Recently Updated Firefox Extensions" to your live bookmarks and looking in there every time you go online. Wink

Just for anyone who wants to know, Daily Dilbert causes the FoxyTunes icon to disappear, and Aging Tabs conflicts with Colorful Tabs. And if you look carefully at the screenshot, you'll notice that I have an orphan statusbar entry between ReminderFox and CoolIris.

...

Actually... In the morning, after lunch, and as soon as I get on the net afterwork, I run the check for updates in both FF and TB for extensions and themes. I also check the ones that don't get updated frequently and don't get posted in the update site. Example, the GSpace ext has not found an update in the last week since .3 has been out. I have .1 listed above. I do periodically look through the extension site looking for newer ones or better ones to replace old extensions.
