Sorry, I'm a real troglodyte, still running XP and Office 2003. Not because I haven't tried the others - I have, they're just so clunkingly overloaded 2ndly with unnecessary functionality but 1stly with redundant pizzazz.
I just can't stick them.
Similarly with FF and TB (which, mainly, just seem S-L-O-W above v2).
I've found and am happily running FFP (portable) 2.0.0.24. Can anybody point me please to TBP 2.0.0.24 which I've seen mentioned?
(I know there's any number of TBP 3.x around: I just really really really want a late-model TB2, preferable 2.0.0.24 but definitely 2.0.0.evenno. Curremtly I'm using 2.0.0.6.)

PS The word Legacy drives me mad. Thought there'd be just one per main version no. Actually there seem to be many (or none). If there's a TBP 2 Legacy, please point me to it (e.g. to match FirefoxPortableLegacy20_2.0.0.20_English.paf.exe. Incidentally I have absolutely no idea where I got this - SourceForge maybe - but it's great.)

I would *HIGHLY* recommend against it as an email clients needs to be actively supported and have bugs fixed (like a browser does). Thunderbird 2 is no longer supported and may very well have security issues (think: a spammer can send you an email and take over your machine kind of issues). It should absolutely not be used for everyday use anymore.

I actually quite liked Firefox Portable 4.0 which I tried earlier today.
I'll move up to a late model TB3, but I do have this unfortunate thing about even nos (that is, I hate odd numbers). Is there a TB4 imminent? I've noticed a rough temporal association between these two softwares in the past.

3.1 is the current stable TB release (I wouldn't used 3.0 anymore as 3.1 is much more stable). 3.3 is the alpha release (called Miramar) and we have a test package of it:

Thunderbird 5 (renamed from 3.3) goes GA in a couple weeks. The javascript engine is faster, and so you should also find TBird to be faster.
TB3 has still kind of security issues with 509 keys, the support seems still not to be finished, keys issued in during last year are not supported, while they are supported by TB2, so enough reasons for someone like me to stick with the working version and leave the last new and what ever beside.
