[Closed] Notepad++ delay in saving, "Not responding"

Hey PA.c, how y'all doing? It's been some days since I typed words into your forum. Would that it could be to deliver some kind of good news or kind words... but I've run into a weird little issue.

Running Windows XP Pro (maybe Corp) SP3, running PA.c 2.0 beta 5, latest Notepad++ Portable (PA.c updater can't find an update, not sure if it's the latest Notepad++, just the latest y'all offer). Computer's got a 3GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM, onboard Intel video, and the portable hard drive is a Seagate ExpansionDrive, 5400RPM, runs Firefox Portable (4.0 beta 12) and VLC Portable (whatever's latest... 1.17?) simultaneously with no lag. Also, computer's been rebooted recently enough (last night sometime?).

*ahem* That said... whenever I go to save in Notepad++, it does nothing, at all. I-beam stops blinking, and clicking anywhere makes the toolbar go white and the title bar read "Not Responding" after the title. After about 10-15 seconds it goes back to normal and I can type again, but the asterisk before the file name in the Taskbar (indicating I am working with an unsaved file) remains, even before I continue typing (which would bring it back). Minimize/maximize the window does nothing, moving the taskbar around (including hiding/unhiding it) does nothing as well.

It's not a deal breaker, but see if you can't reproduce it? I'll see what happens at home when I get there and test it on that (Windows 7 SP1 32-bit Home Premium).

That sounds almost like a

That sounds almost like a problem I have had with other apps (not always portable ones) that I ended up tracing to my Firewall.

Fresh Install

I can't reproduce this in a portable or local install. Have you tried a fresh install of it to a different location to ensure it's not a plugin you added or a corrupted config?

Fresh Install?

Still wondering if you tried a fresh install to ensure it isn't a plugin or corrupted configuration. As it's been 3 weeks with no updates and no one has been able to reproduce this, I'll close this bug. If you'd like to respond, we can re-open this bug.
