Program: Gourmet Recipe Manager
License: GPL
Website: http://grecipe-manager.sourceforge.net/
Description: Gourmet Recipe Manager is a simple but powerful recipe-managing application. Gourmet is intended for the GNOME desktop environment, but works on any platform that gtk supports, including windows.
Gourmet allows you to collect, search and organize your recipes, and to automatically generate shopping lists from your collection. The latest version also allows you to calculate nutritional information for your recipes using the USDA food database (or entering custom information by hand).
Other:
- Uses GTK
- Written in Python and will probably need to be compiled (Windows EXE is not up to date)
- There are a number of registry entries, but it looks to me that most of them are for windows administration (exe location, installer information, Start Menu information, etc.) rather than used by the program itself
I would love this!
Does anyone know of any portable bookmark managers?
Looking forward to this

the one program that definatly needs to be ported......
this has to be ported. there is much interest in a program like this.
I've used the USDA database to help make healthy meals before, but I've had to use it separately from my recipe builder spreadsheet.
I like too that it has customizable categories.
Mark me as very interested, too!
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
You know what? Maybe I will start to work on this

I've copied my install over to my portable drive, and it seems to run OK. I think that the hard part will be putting it into PAF format.
for Windows from the source code?
I didn't see a binary on the SF page.

I don't have the latest version, but if you go back a couple of releases (0.13.4), there is a pre-compiled Windows version. Whoever does the PortableApps version will most likely want to compile the most recent release for themselves.
Mir delivers.

i have been spending too much time on the internet
the above link if a binary .exe installer.
For any developers this link might help

actualy the precompiled is V 0.12 not .13.4 which is the "stable" release which is what sould be compiled for the said features on the website.
Here is a link to the installer I used:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/grecipe-manager/gourmet-0.13.4-1-full_g...
I don't know what the difference is between full_gtkglade and no_gtkglade.
And this page:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=108118
Says that 0.13.8 is the latest stable and 0.14.3 is the latest unstable.
you need the one with GTK if it is gonna be portable. you need GTK for the program to work because it is Gnome based. also it might be easier for the developers to compile everything into a installer using the source code. i dont know i am not a dev but i posted a link to the installation/compilation instructions in a prior thread.
Hmm, maybe I will get the newest one that has the exe, and then I will check on the latest one
Hey kai.inouye
Have you had any luck with this?
PortableApps.com Advocate
I know. Some "minor" things about this program.
Can you please elaborate?
PortableApps.com Advocate
Well, anyway...

Awesomeness d00d!
I am looking forward to seeing this as a portable application. Good luck! Cant wait to beta / alpha test.
We'd sure LOVE to have a portable recipe manager... Any chance the development of this will be picked up anytime soon? I'm trying to put together a collection of good kid-approved recipes for families who have children on the autism spectrum and have VERY limited diets. Would be great if people could just download the app and add their own recipes to the database.
Thanks for having worked on this.

thanks for reminding me of this!
Glad to hear it. So is it currently working and stable for Windows 7? I went to the non-portable version and according to the forums, lots of windows users can't run it (which is what happened to me when I tried a while back).
Thank you for looking after this
Jennifer
iirc back when development was being done on making the program portable Windows 7 didnt exist outside Beta testing and Release canidate. i remember it working fine in windows vista home premium 32 bit (on 64bit hardware =___=)
