[Notepad++] Two gripes

First, I love how Notepad++ remembers files that are open. We have it at home and we keep a shopping list that is always opened with the app. Great feature. It doesn't work from PC to PC however. Different drive letters, I suppose.

Second, and posting from home as opposed to work grants me the extra privilege of being able to access Photobucket, so I can illustrate what's going on with a screenshot courtesy of Lightscreen. Anyway, I've found that in the margin to the left there's this annoying orange line which highlights each line, but when you save the file it turns green, though as you continue editing, lines that have changed, the line becomes orange again. I get why it does that, but as I'm just writing plain-text files, I don't need the feature, and I can't find any way to disable it. Maybe I'm overlooking something? Anyway, here's the new feature:

For the first one, I often

For the first one, I often have trouble with that. Is pain in butt and very annoying. It seemed to happen less in the old 4.8 version, but then the 4.8 got its own cold, so I upgraded.
For the second one, I like that new feature. So I really have no reason to turn it off. But no, a quick browse thru of the settings didn't uncover anything.

You might try ATPad if you're just doing text files.

Too many tables you can't turn

Sounds good

I'll try ATPad then, see if I like it any better. Notepad++ is really nice but has a lot of features I'll never use. I like EditPad Lite, but I don't like the latest versions, so though I've been using it for years, it's time to let it go.

Any way to disable the Selection Bar in ATPad?

How about these

Take at look at these and what they can do, just about everything, alarms, lists and all sorts of stuff, PNotes Portable, Stickies Portable, Those 2 are both real good easy, nice, also there is ToDoList (but to me nah,) and ofcourse the bigger Task Coach Portable, way to much for a shopping list, reminders, notes or to-dos for me, all can be tried and uninstalled with no trace, you're probably aware of, and can be found at on this site at, https://portableapps.com/apps. Oh haven't tried this other one but it just hit me what about notepad2 ?. I still like the first 2 Blum

Why did you revive a topic that hasn't had comments in 2 years?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Weird

It's like he meant to post on Facebook or something. But why he had this topic open, I have no idea. Very strange.

I remember this topic...

Update: Still using Notepad++, I got my problems with it sorted. Wink

@JTH, you ought to see if you can implement 4chan's "sage" function, which lets one reply to a topic without bumping it. Also, perhaps the function would allow topics to force auto-sage after X days/weeks of inactivity, so replies can still be added, but they won't float the topic to the top of the list. (And maybe give the topic a nice anchor icon to show that it can't be bumped/floated.)

I don't have the topic open

It was right there for me to view, for whatever reason I can't remember now. You may like notepad++ which I do to, but for the use you were using it for, I was supplying info about the shopping list I thought the things I mentioned might be better, you are still active, I thought it would benefit, simple... I don't use facebook, Lol. I don't post from other sites or programs or anything like that either.
