So some sacrilegious person or another decided to block the portable apps domain at work. Now, this isn't terribly difficult to get around, since I'm obviously doing it right now. However, though portableapps itself isn't a big deal as far as bandwidth consumption, other things tend to take up quite a bit and my upload speed from my home connection is poor at best...
So this brought me to the idea of using an SSH tunnel as a proxy and to send only DNS lookups across it. This would get around the DNS based web filter work employs and save me some bandwidth. I took a quick look around when the portable browser of choice was firefox (now I prefer chrome) and didn't have much luck. Anyone else thought of this/come up with a solution?
Thanks
In before you should be working: Yes, yes, I know, but really, shouldn't we all?
unfortunately, I have not heard so far of anything ready for windows, but it may exist since for linux such very single purpose proxy exist definitely, I think it is even called dnsproxy if I remember it correctly.
