well it looks like the US government will come to a halt. sure some agencies will still be doing their work but 800000 people will be at home without pay. the IRS will be closed (YEY). The agency that works with national parks will be closed (boooooo >:( )

This would be a really good opportunity for a terrorist attack. Sure, the military and FBI are up and running, but what about everyone else. The people at the state department would be closed, so people on the passport watch-list might sneak in. I'm not sure that the TSA will be open. Any sky marshals would probably have the day off.
Moral:don't fly or visit a military installation or DC.

dont expect the site to be up during the furlough as there is an article on Cnet where it is said some federaly supported sites might go dark during the furlough.
