Marble Portable 1.0.0 has been released. Marble is a Virtual Globe and World Atlas that you can use to learn more about Earth: You can pan and zoom around and you can look up places and roads. A mouse click on a place label will provide the respective Wikipedia article. This release updates Marble to the latest version (Note that Marble itself may crash on exit on some Windows PCs) It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free. Read on for more details...
Update automatically in the PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 5 by clicking 'Check for Updates'.
Features
Of course it's also possible to measure distances between locations or watch the current cloud cover. Marble offers different thematic maps: A classroom-style topographic map, a satellite view, street map, earth at night and temperature and precipitation maps. All maps include a custom map key, so it can also be used as an educational tool for use in class-rooms. For educational purposes you can also change date and time and watch how the starry sky and the twilight zone on the map change.
In opposite to other virtual globes Marble also features multiple projections: Choose between a Flat Map ("Plate carré"), Mercator or the Globe.
The best of all: Marble is Free Software / Open Source Software and promotes the usage of free maps.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
Marble Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Wish you would have waited. =P
I *just* got some time to do this. The .marble directory is saved in the Data/settings/ directory, and I wanted it to move it to Data/ on install. Not a big deal though, we can wait until the next version.
EDIT: Also, it seems you didn't UPX this. You can, as long as you leave the plugins directory uncompressed. (I've been meaning to ask you about the appcompactor.ini file, I couldn't manage to get it to work.)
Future
In the future, you can drop me an email if you want to change something. Most devs seem not to bother with updates so when I see something more than a a few days overdue (longer here) I just pack it up. I didn't UPX it at all due to the crash on exit, but it turns out to be a bug with the Windows build itself.
AppCompactor.ini is detailed in the PA.c Format spec. It doesn't support wildcards or directories or anything at all. Just specific filenames, extensions, etc.
Will do.
I only had time to package Workrave the other day and was going to wait until today to do the others, next time I'll mention that.
