I set up PGP Desktop about a month ago in order to send emails encrypting with pgp, but soon after having set it up I had some major data loss (my SD Memory Card died on me).
I found out I am suppose to be able to use TBP with GPG, so would prefer to use that as TBP is my favourite e-mail client anyways. 
So, since I've lost the first pgp-key I created etc, how do I really go about getting this set up in TBP for the first time?
Didn't learn much when setting up with PGP Deskptop, so really have no experience with PGP/GPG usage..
I have the TBP 1.5.0.5 with Enigmail+GPG version, but can't seem to find any setting for it inside thunderbird, or how do I go about setting this up?
Greatly appreciate all help as I am completely stuck right now :/

In the menubar, OpenPGP -> Key Management -> Generate -> New Key Pair
If you have the revocation cert for your lost key, use it.
I also reccomend that you join the PGP Basics group on Yahoo.

Thanks for your help, but I'm still stuck..
I can't see the OpenPGP in the menubar :/ You mean up with "File Edit View Go Message Tools Help" right?
Is there some program I have to install other than download and run TBP with enigmail+GPG?
Go to Tools -> Extensions.
If Enigmail is installed, you should have an OpenPGP menu. If it appears as installed, reinstall it (you can get the latest version at enigmail.mozdev.org). Also amke sure that you have SkipChromeFix and SkipCompregFix set to false if you change drive letters (this doesn't apply if you don't use the ini because those are false by default).

I want to use portable thunderbird with enigmail. It is installed on a usb stick and contains all my local thunderbird settings in the profile directory.
My problem is that the enigmail directory in OpenPGP-->settings-->directory to GnuPG is discribed with a drive letter. What do I have to do so that portable thunderbird works with gnupg under app\gpg without giving him a drive letter?
My self-provided portablethunderbird.ini doesn't work:
GPGPathDirectory=App\gpg
GPGHomeDirectory=App\gpg
My problem is that the enigmail directory in OpenPGP-->settings-->directory to GnuPG is discribed with a drive letter.
That's not a problem. The launcher changes it to make it correct.
And the launcher is in the directory above \App\, right?

The structure is:
E:\E-Mail\ThunderbirdPortable\ThunderbirdPortable.exe
and
E:\E-Mail\ThunderbirdPortable\App\gpg\gpg.exe

Portable Thunderbird and gnupg runs on a stick. I want that in this setting the location of gnupg is correct defined without mentioning the drive letter.

So that on every PC I use thunderbird, enigmail is working correct.
Or do I have to describe the correct location of gnupg only one time and TB adjust the location on a other PC on his own?
As I mentioned before, there is no problem. The launcher automatically corrects that, among other things (prefs.js has many absolute paths that the launcher fixes). You don't need to worry; it will work on the next PC you use.

..\app\gnupg and TB didn't like that. But after your answer I understand that I didn't understood.
If I already have a working TBP installation and I download the Enigmail extension, is it the same than if I download the TBP+Enigmail release here at portableapps.com?
Should I do something else or just install the .xpi?

If you want to work with a usb stick,then you should use portable thunderbird. There is a version in which enigmail is already integrated. To work with your settings, set in harddrive installed version, read the FAQ.

So, its not the same to install the enigmail xpi in my already running PTB?
But I installed this PTB+GPG and copied my profile from the other, but the Open PGP menu did not appeared. So i did as said in this post and installed the extension.
Thats why I wondered if it would be the same to install the extension in my already productive TBP.
You can add the enigmail extension to a standard install of Thunderbird Portable. You also need to add the GPG binaries to your ThunderbirdPortable\App\gpg directory. TBP+GPG+Enigmail has all this setup already.

Perfect, that's what I was looking for. I added EnigMail later on to my portable installation and couldn't figure out how to make GPG portable. Thanks!
