I've searched quite a bit, and can't find a start-to-finish tutorial for the launcher. I understand that it's supposed to be simple, but I guess I just don't get it. What am I supposed to be pointing it at? Here's an example. I use Treedbnotes quite a bit, and like the portable version. Now in the interest of full disclosure, I currently use [Illegal platform that has stolen PortableApps.com code, please don't mention it again - mod JTH], but have never been able to get it to work in Wine with Linux. So I plan on switching to 2.0 when it comes out hopefully next week. I'd have done it sooner but I need categories. So I install the portable version of Treedbnotes into the Portable Apps folder of the Portable apps drive, point the launcher at it, and receive an error regarding a missing NSIS. That makes it significantly less simple. With other apps I get a missing .ini notification. Now with other menus I can just insert my portable apps of choice and they work, a proprietary format is either nonexistent or at least not necessary. I know from past experience that I can get apps to work in PA simply by changing the file extension to .paf from .exe, or in fact with some apps making sure that it's in it's own file rather than just sitting in the Portable Apps folder on it's own. But I can't help but think that this may not be the optimal way of utilizing the menu, mainly because someone went to the trouble of creating the launcher. Why is a special format necessary? What does the use of the .paf format provide that a simple .exe would not? No criticism here, just a genuine good faith inquiry. Sorry if I rambled a bit.
Oh yeah, will there be an upgrade path from the 2.0 beta 5 to the final release?

You can use any apps you want with the PortableApps.com Platform, whether in PortableApps.com Format or any other format just by placing them in the right location, no launcher necessary. You can create a TreeDBNotes folder in your X:\PortableApps folder, copy TreeDBNotes in with the TreeDBNotes.exe main EXE right in that X:\PortableApps\TreeDBNotes folder, and then just hit F5 in the PA.c Menu and it'll show up. No need to manually configure a link to it in the menu or anything. And if an extra EXE shows up, you can just hide it. Unlike the illegal platform you mentioned, we're a fully open platform and format, which means you can use any portable apps with our platform and our portable apps will work just fine without our menu. It's always worked that way.
There are many reasons to use PortableApps.com Format apps. Most zipped apps are not fully portable (nor, incidentally, are many of the apps included with the illegal platform you mentioned, even though they are based on our stuff). Check out the link to see all the advantages of PA.c Format apps.

Not a problem. Lots of people don't know about the illegal activities (or not full portableness) of the platform you mentioned. Several people seem to miss the bits about adding any apps you want to the PA.c Platform, so we're exploring ways to make it easier (or at least easier to find out about).
