Hi,
I run portable firefox from a networked drive on several Windows XP PCs. But whenever I log-in to a second machine, I have to close firefox on the first PC, otherwise I get the message:
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system"
Having read the forums, I see that the decision was taken to disable the .INI file option to enable multiple instances... Is there anyway I can re-enable that? Or if possible, could it be re-enabled for users like me?!
Many thanks, and keep up the wonderful work.
It's still there and works like it always has. It's just not recommended for most users, nor has it ever been. See the help.html which links to the advanced options in the readme.txt for more details.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Hello John;
I just downloaded your latest firefox.
I ran it once and then exited the program. Now I can not restart the program or safely remove my USB drive. I have tried this two times with the same results. I keep getting a message saying that it is all ready running when it is not running on my PC. I shut it down. I have to remove my USB unsafely, then reboot my PC. I can then one firefox once but on shut down and restart. I get the same message.
This may not be a bug. But I do not know what to to get this to stop. I have never had this problem with your portable version 1507.
Can you or some one help me. I did read the above post but it made no sense to me at all. I would like to try version two out but may have to use your last version.
After posting this message. I found that I could not run a cleaner program on my PC. It says that mozilla must be shut down to clean its temporay internet cache. I have to restart my PC to do this. Hope this additiona helps.

Hello John;
I found my problem so I want to tell you what I did to get rid of it.
I have been running on occasion Firefox portable 1507. I updated to 08.
Apparently firefox writes profiles or something to your hard drive in the document and settings folder. It does this in two places.
I removed these two directories called "firefox" manually and then reran your version two with no problems. I no longer get this error message saying it is all ready running when I exited the program. I can all so safely remove my USB and my cleaner no longer complains.
I hope this helps. I had no idea that I had to remove these entries manually from my PC's documents and settings folder. Now I do know for future upgrades.

Hello Group;
Every time I run a new copy of FireFox portable 2. I get the same errors as I posted above. By new copy I mean where you have to accept the license.
I have to remove "mozella entries in my document and settings folder.
Then I have to unsafely remove my USB drive.
Then I have to reboot my PC.
On shut down I get a windows error about a file called "XPCOM:E then something I can not fully read will not shut down.
If I do these things I do not get a error message sayin firefox is running multiple incedents.
I have tried this with just the single firefox application and the entire suite.
I am running windows 2000 Pro with service pack four.
To help I even reformated by USB each time and put fresh apps in it.
It seems it is the first time you run firefox that you have problems. Since I was unsure I went back to my individual apps and the latest version of "AutoStart".
I wonder what happens if a person uses this on a PC that has Firefox 2 installed on it. By that I mean do you have to remove the mozilla directory from the document and setting folder. If you do what happens to their installed version of the program.
