It's possible not show the icon's suite in the taskbar?

Hi to all,

having launched the suite the icon appear in the taskbar as in the screenshot

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1374/immagineeb.jpg

I would hide it and leave visible only the icon near the clock, is it possible?

Thanks Smile

Listed in the suite info:

See: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_apps_suite#disablewin7taskbar

for how to do it. Smile

EDIT: Am I the only one that does like the taskbar option? Blum

If the taskbar "option" means

If the taskbar "option" means I can alt+tab then great but can you still alt+tab without it i.e when it only appears in the system tray?

Nope

ALT-TAB shows real Windows that appear in the task bar. When something is 'minimized' to the system tray, it's actually not minimized. The window is instead hidden. So it won't appear in ALT-TAB. This is the way Windows is designed.

Ok but

the next best thing might be to have click (double) to appear and single (or double) click to disappear.

I have used a program called Poco mail that in this way works flawlessly (unlike pa menu) eg pa menu is (almost) always unpredictable even using non-beta soft

Just Click

Single click is set to show and hide.

What is ok? The fact that you

What is ok? The fact that you single click to open and double click to close without knowing if the menu will open again?

Single click to appear always

Single click to appear always works but not to make disappear, that is it is unpredictable.

This has always been my experience at some point after installation on any (and every) system I have ever used.

Same issue here. I didn't realize that for years since I never click the button to close. I start an app or just click on the app I was using and the menu disappears. No impact on my workflow, but a bug nonetheless...

I believe that bug first

I believe that bug first appeared in the 1.6 release, with the issue being a conflict with the Windows 7 Taskbar Icon.

Click Anywhere

Right, it's an issue in the current builds. So just click anywhere at all besides the icon in the system tray or the menu itself. On your desktop, on a blank part of the task bar, it doesn't matter.

It does matter when you use

It does matter when you use full screen applications.

Is this fixed in 2.0 (not beta)?

Show

If you are using another app in full screen, how (or why) are you showing the menu that you want to then hide it? You can just click on that other application anyway. As long as it loses focus, it goes away.

True but still

Why doesn't single click open/close work reliably, as can other apps such as what I just mentioned.

Could you add the option to show in Taskbar for other Winvers?

I also like having it show in the Taskbar in Win7, precisely because I can Alt+Tab to it without some odd keyboard shortcut (Win + Alt + Space doesn't work on Win7 anyway). If we had the option of showing it in the Taskbar in XP (with an ini edit), then we could Alt+Tab consistently across Windows versions.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.

Yes

So it operates as a fully-fledged app when you want it and not when you don't.

Maybe it could be a right-click option...

There is something at the top of the context menu I don't understand "PortableApps.com Platform". Is that meant to be like an about menu or something?

Hide taskbar icon tip

Thank you for this tip. My taskbar is alway too crowded, so I like to hide it, while the icon on right is there anyway.
Would be nice to have it in the 'option' menu. I searched there first, before I came to this site.
