Portable firefox slow on network drive

I saw in the known issues a comment that portable firefox may not work on a network drive. I can use pff on a network drive but find it takes at least 30 seconds to load. I have version 1.5 and only two extensions; google toolbar and forecastfox. Is there any way to speed up the load time?

It should be

like using a standard local version... unless your network or server is slow to access the files. And it need to have a drive letter mapped.

local drive v network drive

Local drive loaded portable firefox in under 5 seconds. Network drive still takes more than 30. You say something about needing drive letter mapped, not sure what you mean and if there is anything I can change in my portable firefox setup on the nnetwork drive to speed it up. still no big prob as I can use the local drive I guess and install a copy of pff on every machine I use. I still use my usb version but there are 4 pcs in my work area which I access depending on who is at work at the time and the easiest for me would be to run it from my personal folder on the network drive.

The drive needs to have a drive letter

It can't just use Windows canonical naming (\\servername\drive\etc). The speed issue is a result of your network and/or server and there isn't much you can do to mitigate it.
