I have signed up both on the PokerTH website, and the Poker-Heroes website and when I click option 2 from the game splash screen, it has given me several errors including bad user login/pass. Is it even possible to play via the internet with this portable game??

I do it almost weekly.
Sometimes they have network/login problems and I cant login but thats usually resolved after a couple of minutes. Sometimes I try it a day later and it works then.
If you just want to check if it works you can login anonymously and if that works it is most likely a bad password or something on your end.

So I did try guest mode, and it worked. But I still can't login as me. I've checked, then triple checked my login/pass and it still says it's incorrect. Grrr.

So ... on my Poker-Heroes.com account, I used special characters in my password. Those special characters were not recognized by the PA PokerTH internet login. Once I changed my password to numerical and alphabetical only on the heroes website, then changed the password on the PA app ... it worked fine.

PokerTH itself doesn't like those special characters. They trip up a lot of apps and services. Not most, but more than you'd expect.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
That sounds like a reasonable reason as, as John said, some apps dont handle them well.
