Will there be (in the future) a u3 download area on portableapps.com ?
I would really like to see this.

I'm still evaluating my future U3 support at the moment. My standard portable apps will run off any device -- U3 or not -- so I'm trying to figure out if it is logical to specifically support U3 going forward as for each app it represents almost double the work. (for packaging and uploads, anyway) Or if I can streamline the process, perhaps, which I'm also working on.

I too would love to see a download area. I bet your scripts could be generated for both. Have you tried something like Ant to help build the scripts?
I've looked at your scripts, I like them. You have introduced me to the power of NCIS!
But, for instance, just compressing OO.o takes 10 minutes or more. Multiply that times all the languages available (and, yes, I'm doing them all). Then uploading each OO.o package takes 45 minutes. Double that as there's a seperate one for U3 for each language. And that's just Portable OO.o.
Add to that the fact that I can use the standard portable versions to drive traffic back to this site and at least make a bit of money on ads and affiliate links to pay for hosting and development time... and I can't do that with the U3 apps as someone that downloads it from U3 will probably never come here.

U3 company, which is backed by
Sandisk and M-Systems, is trying to
promote U3 apps. So it should be
surprising if you efforts are
not rewarded in one way
or another by them.
Keep up the good work.

They've funded the initial development of FF for U3 and OO.o for U3. But we're still trying to figure out a way to make it make sense future-wise.

If you want to make a U3 Launcher package (*.u3p) with your application in, U3 Compliant or not, use the free tool from http://www.eure.ca/.
I use it to get portable programs that I want to see on the launcher menu, even if they aren't "U3 Compliant".
The tool is free for non commercial use only, otherwise it's $40.
This topic is way old, plus you can find tools like this just by searching.

Well I'm sorry, I was only trying to help.
but it's quite easy to find things like that by searching.
