FireFox "lost" my passwords

I'm using version 3.0.16 and this morning it was fine but an hour later everything was gone. The box at the top asking if I want to save the passwords I remember comes up. But when I click "yes" nothing happens. Anybody know what happened? And how do I fix it? I just wish I'd written down some of the newer passwords! LOL!

Thanks,

Upgrade

I don't know what the problem is, but there are a few things to try; first of all, back the profile up (make a copy of the Data directory). Then, try taking a look in the saved passwords - Tools -> Options, Security tab (or whatever it is in 3.0), Saved Passwords button. Beyond that, you could try looking inside the profile. Should be able to find instructions on where it is if you look.

Finally, you should upgrade to Firefox 4 or if you really don't want to use Firefox 4, 3.6. There are all sorts of improvements and you'll get to a maintained line.

Thanks

They're baaack!

I don't know. They weren't in options; security;saved passwords this morning. But they are now. Firefox is pretty trouble free so I've been goofing off about backups.

I can't find anything in profile that seems password related so I think I'll try copying the entire flash drive to a CD until I can find the passwords. If I had a spare drive...

As far as upgrading... maybe. If it ain't broke...

Thanks again,

But it is

Firefox 3.0 is broke - there are security vulnerabilities, various new features being used by a very large number of websites (mainly newer CSS features which are being widely deployed, also support for HTML5 tags) aren't available at all.

Ya, but...The new "features"

Ya, but...

The new "features" are just garbage to let some yahoos put more ads that I don't want to see on my computer. I have no "flash" players installed. I don't want what the web weenies want me to see. I want useful- not flashy. I just need a simple, usable browser.

I don't even have java script turned on. Its just another "feature" that's abused by some dipsh... yahoos to make moving, flashing, annoying ads. I have some friends that make their living on ebay. They must have all that crap installed on their business machine. Their screen reminds me of the slimy, sleazy p*rn sites with the gross animated GIFS (ya, I looked- most folks have).

Thanks anyway, but I'll stay with what I have have until it doesn't do the job anymore. Heck, I stayed with WIN95 until I couldn't buy income tax programs anymore!
