firefox 4 doesn't launch (vista)

Hi,

I try to switch from 3.6 to 4.0 (and now 4.0.1) but firefox doesn't launch.

The splash screen appears, then disappears, and then... nothing.
I can see FirefoxPortable and firefox.exe in the task manager, but that's all.

It is a new fresh install (not an update), and the safe mode does the same.

Thanks for any idea.

do they go away in task manager?

I had an issue like this on Server 2003. Splash screen comes up, both apps open in task manager, both apps disappear in task manager, then nothing.

John said it was probably an exe blocker. Some IT admins won't let you run apps off a flash drive. If it's your home computer, I have no clue.

Elsewhere?

Does it exhibit this behaviour on another (non-corporate) computer? or is this specific to computers where IT people are likely to be blocking things?

Note: It's not an exe-blocker blocking everything from a romovable disk, as FirefoxPortable.exe is running (it's showing the SplashScreen), but they might be specifically blocking firefox.exe, or it could be a slow flash-drive (thus taking a LONG time to start), IDK

I don't have another

I don't have another computer...

It's not an exe blocker because ff 3.5 & 3.6 works.

It's not something blocking everything from a romovable disk because the program is on my hard drive (just like ff 3.6).
