Change temp. dir. while installation?

Hi everybody,

is there any way for changing the directory, which is used while an app installation?
Normaly, in my case, this is drive C, where Windows is installed on. Bur my problem now is, there isnt any other space left, only windows fits in the partition size and some lowsize tempfiles, thats all.
But now, i cant install anything new. Because most of these portable apps are using the common temp directory for unpacking.

any ideas?
working with "Set temp= D:\" or similar doesnt work.

Move TEMP

Your TEMP directory in Windows should always be on a drive with enough space. You can change this in Windows 7 by right-clicking on My Computer in the Start Menu and selecting Properties. In the window that comes up, click Advanced system settings. In there, select the Advanced tab and then click on Environment Variables. In there, you can set TEMP to D:\Temp (after creating the Temp directory on D: of course). You'll need to logout and back in for it to take effect. After that, be sure to clean out your old TEMP directory.

Not having enough space in TEMP will affect a lot of apps, not just ours. Additionally, your C: drive running out of space will affect all locally installed apps as they all keep their settings on C:.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

You are right. The free space change betweens 1 and 30 mb; but, as long as they are working properly. :/

on a side note to this

you may want to keep your documents and such on a portable hard drive since windows gets a bit err "antsy" when less than 10% of the drive is empty
