Upgrading should fix it but alas it does not and why should anyone have to re-install, then log in with operalink, set up extensions etc all because of the PA launcher?
If it's the "already starting" message, that probably indicates that something has gotten broken while it was starting up. First of all, check in Task Manager or similar if opera.exe or OperaPortable.exe are running; try killing any opera.exe processes there may be and then if after ten seconds or so OperaPortable.exe is still running, kill it too. If none of these processes are there, that's fine too. Then, you'll need to reset the launcher status which records that it's starting; delete Data\PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-OperaPortable.ini. After that, it should all start working again. It's possible that data corruption may have occurred if something went wrong while it was starting, so if it doesn't work after doing that try renaming the whole Data directory to something else to start with a fresh profile and settings.
Let me know how that goes.

I would simply reinstall and see then

Hi,
Done that, and did it before this update too.

Can you explain a bit more what you mean? Simply stating that it takes a while to start doesn't help anyone help you.
It's coming up with a message "already starting" or something.

I re-installed since operalink is only but a password away even though it does silly things like update bookmarks from the local cache and toolbar.
Some extensions no longer work (upgrade from earlier version) but that is not PA.c fault.
Is there a knowledgebase article somewhere to read?
Thanks
What precisely are you wanting more information about?

I figure this might be a common issue and thus may require a help file since obviously it is *someone's* fault, but who I don't know.
Thanks Chris, was suffering same problem , deleting the Data\PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-OperaPortable file fixed it for me.
