encrypt decrypt

hello there, I need some help.
I tried to encrypt a folder in my drive and after a while I cancelled it. now I can't watch any movie, I can't see any picture and neither the music plays. what have I done? the files are still there, but I can't use them. all the other files work, from other folders, except from this one, which I tried to encrypt.
can anybody help me please? can I recover the files, I mean, make them work? and can I do it myself?

encrypt with what?

you are not saying what did you try to encrypt the files or the folder.
And well, encrypting means often that he file can be then used only after decrypting it again and often also copy it to other location.

encrypt decrypt

well I wanted to encrypt a folder so that nobody can look through the files in it (picture, music, videos and stuff like that) so I clicked right on the folder, properties, advanced, and encrypt contents to secure data. after a while I cancelled because it was taking too long, and I am not a very patient girl.
now, because of that, I can't see any picture, for example when I want to open it, instead of the photo, it appears a small x in a box.
and the music won't play, it shows 00:00 in winamp.
if I want to see a movie from this foder, the kmplayer, bsplayer or windows media player, all of them say that I don't have the necessary codec. and it's weird because if I play another movie froam a different folder, it works perfectly.

only the files in this folder won't work properly. it there any solution that you are aware of?

what opertaing system?

are you using some w7 enterprise or ultimate ? Are you trying to encrypt something with that ? Or just file encryption in vista or so?

In those cases this is not a portable problem, this is pure windows problem if you used just encryption provided by windows and not any external software provided here.

if you did try to encrypt a folder and did not finish it, then your files are probably not decryptable any more, thus gone.

You might get better support for that in some microsoft forum however.

well

I have windouws 7, and I tried searching on microsoft forums, but nothing is working. oh, I don't know what to do. I tried encrypting a folder and now the files in it are not usable anymore. oh, I'll keep looking for solutions, even if it seems to be useless.
thank you anyway.

Never fear!

File repair is here!
http://www.filerepair1.com/

Note: I intentionally corrupted some files and tried to repair them, but it didn't work. So I tried "repair" a normal text file and a Word document, and it said it couldn't "repair" either of them.

Let us know how it goes if you do use it though. There are also many other free similar tools out there, if you just google it.

partial encryption

I'm sorry to say that you files are most likely permanently gone. Next time be patient and let it finish. Either that or encrypt a copy, then delete the original.

oh, you!

you were right. it didn't seem to help me, that programme. I've sent an email to those guys and I hope they'll answer, so that I convice myself that there is nothing I can do.

I'll definitely be more patient next time, if there will be a next time!

thank you!
