Duke Nukem Forever came out before folders came to the PortableApps.com Platform

Wow. Really? Think about that statement for a second. While the folders code has been around a few years now, DNF has been in limbo for over 10 years.

I was going to say, a little birdie told me that Duke Nukem Forever leaked on torrent sites last night (okay, I saw it firstahand, but I did not download it), but I checked Wikipedia, and apparently the game came out today. The biggest vaporware joke in the history of the Internet... is no longer funny.

Definitely Not Funny

It's definitely not funny because after 10 years of development, it is barely playable, not funny, rampantly offensive. Looks like it could have used some more testing or a rewrite for it to have been done properly.

Granted, not all of the

Granted, not all of the one-liners are good, but there are plenty of funny ones. The parts about killing women isn't fair; anyone who played DN3D or can look at it objectively knows that killing them is the right thing to do - they can 't be saved and only serve to incubate aliens at that point. The part about map design isn't fair either - Doom wasn't completely linear (especially not spatially). 14 years in development isn't 14 years of coding, testing and polishing, either. It's been 14 years because there hasn't been much development on it until recently, and a side effect of the long delay is that it was rewritten over several different engines, not just the final one. I wouldn't say the game lives up to all the hype it's had over the years, but it's not a disaster either.

Vintage!

No surprise

No surprise there. Seems to me they tried too hard to live up to peoples' expectations with the raunchy humor, went overboard, and forgot how to make a fun '90s style shooter.

Still, there are some people who say it's actually good (to their tastes) and it will sell alright by name alone... and I definitely agree with the picture about the map design on page 1 of that article. That's a shot right at the Call of Duty games, and should have been put on an article for one of them. But I suppose it would apply to some others as well.

Hmm... did you choose that subject line intentionally? Same initials as the game, DNF.

Hah

Oddly, I didn't choose the subject intentionally. What are the chances? (well, 1 in 17,576... but still)
