RSS feed from PortableApps.com doesn't reload automatically in PA Firefox 3.52

I posted this in the Portable Apps general forum since I thought it might have something to do with the whole web site, but there was no response. Perhaps its just best if I put it in the Firefox Portable forum:

I like to keep my RSS feeds as pulldown lists on my Firefox bookmark toolbar just to keep track of sites casually. It's not an emergency if I miss anything so that's fine, but for some reason the PortableApps.com RSS feed does not update automatically. It only updates when I tell it to with a right-click Reload Live Bookmark.

Do others find they have problems with the PortableApps.com RSS feed specifically? In PortableFF 352 or even in other browsers?

Thanks!

Yep, same here on 3.0.12.

Yep, same here on 3.0.12. It's been like that for months, can't remember exactly when it started. Or stopped...

Does anyone know whether this

Does anyone know whether this happens on the non-portable version too? Or whether this has more to do with PortableApps.com's RSS than the browser itself? I can get other RSS feeds updated on time.

It happens with the

It happens with the non-portable version, too. I suspect it's something about PA's RSS but that's about as far as I can take it.

Happens to me too...

I have the same problem using 3.0.13 in Windows XP SP3.
Using the Brief addon gives me a decent workaround, though... the feed still won't load in the RSS feeds toolbar, but Brief finds the updates anyway. Smile

Thunderbird is OK

I've tested it with Thunderbird 3 (Portable & non-p.) & in Opera 9.64 & 10 (in all its development stages), & it nupdates fine. Must be a FF problem.

RSS works now

All of the sudden the Portable Apps RSS feed works. Whether it is due to the 3.53 update or not, at least it finally does work

I spoke too soon. Even though it wasn't simply just from upgrading to a new version (the previous updates like Peazip were mentioned days after my 3.53 download) but the new ones for today did not update. Odd.

Yes, the PA.c RSS feed

Yes, the PA.c RSS feed updates on a strange basis here, too. It generally updates right after a browser re-start...
(Even though Brief finds the PA.c RSS updates, the RSS feed in the toolbar doesn't refresh... weird.)

Anyway, try using the Brief addon as a workaround - works OK for me...

ME TOO!

I don't mind doing one click to see the news, but I need to admit I quite enjoyed see the progress every time I open firefox!
Keep on the more than great work guys!

doesn't work for me...

- either on my PC at home (Ubuntu 10.04.2, Firefox 3.6.17)
- nor on my PC at firm (Windows XP SP3, Firefox portable 4.0.1)

For me it is very annoying cause i relay on the infos (news and so) and have to think on this bug every now and then, check the homepage and wonder why there are so many new programs but not in the RSS feed.

Please fix this!
