Application: AmoK MP3 ReEncoder
Category: Utilities
Description: AmoK MP3 ReEncoder re-encodes MP3s to a lower bitrate. It can process single files or thousands of them (and read in complete folders including subfolders). Due to its support for multi-core CPUs, several MP3s can be reencoded at the same time.
EDIT: I've been granted permission to repackage these applications.

Nice addition, but I can't find any information about a permission. You may not distribute it without explicit permission of the developer, it's stated clearly in its license. If you have permission it would be good to add that info to the description, if not, you only can do an online installer.
I do have permission to repackage all of the AmoK applications. We discussed it via email. He doesn't mind in the slightest.

Without being rude can you please post the email for confirmation? Alternatively use Pastebin and link to it.
This is the standard practice in instances with granted permissions to re-assure testers that all is legit.
Thanks

hey folks,
i am one of AmoK's software developers and just wanted to confirm that we are absolutely fine with our software being repackaged for publication on portableapps.
Best,
Jöran
I can confirm this from Jöran's email address. Sorry for the confusion, Jöran and demon.devin. We only package stuff legally and work pretty hard to keep it that way. We don't want to fall into the trap of illegally repackaging freeware, using trademarks without permission, violating open source licenses, etc that the other portable software sites do.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thank you Joeran!

Hi demon.devin,
I did a quick test and found some issues.
AmoK ReEncoder saves its settings in a folder in %APPDATA% (C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\whoever\Anwendungsdaten\AmoK\ReEncoder\ in my case). There are three files created, Form.session.xml, mainFrame.session.xml and settings.xml.
They should be handled by the launcher to ensure that nothing is left behind or the portable app does not interfere with a local installation.
Then, the settings.xml contains some information that needs to be handled, too (Drive letter changing, path portabilization).
It would be a good idea to preset the lame folder with a settings.xml in the DefaultData folder rather than let the user search for it in the CommonFiles directory.
That would make the LAME plugin much more useful (don't know if putting LAME in the CommonFiles folder is the correct approach here as all other apps put it in their respective directory). Rename the LAME plugin to something like LAME_for_AmoK_ReEncoder_Portable_3.98.4_Dev_Test...
At last, a hint that it requires Java should be included in the description. Does it work with jPortable?
I'll get right on this.
