John said on the 20th of June that he would post an update in a few days.
He repeated this statement on the 24th of June after locking the update thread dated 21-5-2011.
Seeing as it is now July 3rd I was wondering how long is a few days.
Over here in England it is usually 2-3 days.

As has been stated by a number of people before, most things here work on Valve Time, and almost always follow
Not complaining just stating facts.

As for valve time that's just an excuse for not getting things done on time.
As a programmer and web developer myself I would have to say that Valve Time and/or Hofstadter's Law are valid issues in the life cycle of any application. My company has had a project running now for over two years with no end in sight because one issue almost always leads to another.
Couple that with a client who for many months wanted only new features and would not budget for bug fixes, and you get programming hell.
I too am a programmer (not much web dev though), but I would have to disagree with your disagreement (I'm not complaining, I'm just disagreeable
). Although Valve Time and/or Hofstadter's Law may be valid issues, IMO they should not be.
I think we can all agree that John and team are doing an absolutely amazing job in the product they deliver. And I think we can also agree that in development, it is difficult to give hard delivery dates because of the above mentioned issues. However the common tone through most of the complaints has not been "We want an update/product now!". It is more that an update/product was promised and not delivered.
Missed delivery dates are often overlooked, if not expected. The increase in complaints are not a result of a missed promise but rather that the "misses" are the norm, and not the exception.
I'm making an assumption here but I can't imagine that your client would still be with you if you never hit a deadline. Even though you may not have a finished product, goals for milestones must be set and reached. The bare minimum is you need to keep the client informed on a consistent basis. The great companies out there are not great because they have the best product (although this may be the case). What makes a company truly great is that they deliver great customer service. No matter what the product, or how amazing it is, without customers there would be no need for it. Bottom line is you can't keep customers happy with empty promises.
It amazes me that on the internet you can be anything you want, and yet so many people still choose to be idiots.
In fact, you are complaining BY stating facts. The two are not mutually exclusive.
A person can complain that it's raining again, when in fact it is raining again. It's still a complaint. If your car has been stolen, you are quite likely to file a complaint with the police, and gosh, it had better be a fact.

C'mon, all the facts you state are meant to support the argument of disappointment if not annoyance. OWN your role as a complainer, if you feel that it is a valuable contribution to the site.

I'm moving this to off-topic as it is stating the same thing that has already been stated. This way it won't clutter up the Recent Posts feed (which is all I check from my mobile). I'll be posting an update after the holiday weekend (it's a 3-day or more holiday weekend in the US, independence day aka July 4th) probably later in the week.
