I have the older (original?) launcher for my portableapps. I'd like to keep the apps I have and get the new launcher. However, the only way I see to get this is to install the suite, which comes with apps I don't want, and doesn't have the apps I *do* want. How do I get the new launcher and keep my existing apps?

Use the beta of the 2.0 version of the platform. You will still need to download the installers from here, but they will be able to be updated using the built-in updater.
So are you saying that if I load the beta I'll have to reload all the apps I currently use? Or can I download the beta and it retain the apps I use?
If you download and install the beta, it'll just replace the current launcher, nothing else - don't delete anything, just point it at the same drive as last time when you run the install.
Then, after that, there is a handy updater built in that will check if there are updates to any of your other official apps, and offer to download and install them for you.
