Why would 6.0 beta be "the first beta (after an earlier test) of the upcoming 5.0 version".

Surely 5.0 was released some time ago and one would expect this to be a beta of the upcoming 6.0 version.

Or am I misreading something?

Twas a CopyPasta error.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

This might not be an easy thing to do or time consuming but is there a chance for portableapps to introduce file updates as little updates rather than a complete download of the whole app? something like diff of the new version.

It's not what you know, its what you can prove.

I cannot get Firefox 5.0 to pick up the 5.0.1 update because it wants to keep foisting the beta for 6.0 on me... Ideas?

I am not happy.

Whats the folder you installed it in?
Firefox Portable 5.0.1 hasnt been released yet so you cant update to it.
My guess is that you installed it to FirefoxPortableText which is the dev channel and currently updates to Firefox 6. The normal firefox should be installed to /PortableApps/FirefoxPortable.

... is for the Mac only. Thus why I cannot download it on my Windows 7 boxes...

Glad I figured it out.
