Development Test 1 (2011-07-11): Initial release
Hi, I did a quick test and found some issues:
At first, I think it should be labeled as development test (in the appinfo as that is taken by the installer as well) and include the dev test splash screen.
There are some errors in the development toolkit validation:
--------------------
PortableApps.com Format validation failed with 5 errors and 1 warning.

Second, there are some registry keys left behind in HKU\Software\mkvmergeGUI
Did you think about automatic language switching? I don't know if it is easy to do, because it seems to use the OS-language.
The app crashed as I tried to add a DivX-avi, but ran fine as I added a mpg-file.
Nice addition, I don't use mkv very often, but it seems an uncompilcated tool to create them.
I'll take a look at these as soon as I can. This is something I had made portable for myself a while ago, and when I found out it was OSS, decided to put it up - so obviously I didn't test it very well.
Is there a tool you used to check the validation of the format?
Chris has released an alpha of his development toolkit here a while ago. It's quite useful to check if one has not forgotten or mistyped the critical entries. And it produces this nice validation report.
I fixed the errors in the AppInfo file - I have a template that I use so I guess there's some problems with it.
I also fixed the registry issue and updated to 4.9.1.
What did you mean by - Did you think about automatic language switching?
I (we) recommend that you use the template in PortableApps.com Development Toolkit, used by creating a package in it.
I am a Christian and a developer and moderator here.
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” – Proverbs 15:1
I originally downloaded the template from under the Development section of the site (which look like it's the same as what's in the toolkit - I didn't know of the toolkit until yesterday). Along the way I added some skeleton files of my own such as AppInfo.ini, but I must have based them off of another app that was incorrect or something.
I re-downloaded the template and re-added my own skeleton files again making sure the formatting of everything is correct. I've also downloaded the toolkit to verify my packages.
Thanks
PS - Good work on BPBible. I use it a lot.
The PA.c launcher can use the language setting of the PA.c Menu to automatically set an app's language. You need some settings in the launcher.ini, to set what language should be used as default if a locale does not exist, how the localization is set (in this case it is a registry entry that should be saved in Data and therefore can be altered by the launcher) and what kind of variable is used. It is described in the launchers manual.
After a look at the registry entries created, it seems weired (or broken). It seems to pick up the OS's language setting but writes what apparantly is nonsense to the registry (on my german WinXP it writes 'und' to the language key...).
I don't know if it is feasible with this app, but as it provides several locales, maybe you could try.
Hi
Is it possible/legal to add MKVextractgui-2 to this paf package?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mkvextractgui-2/
It uses a ini file in it's own directory
It would be very helpful because you can extract streams from an mkv and merge them with the same package.
Thanks in advance
Hi
There is a new version of mkvtools, so my question is will you make a updated version?
In the case that you are not continuing this portable app can i get the source code that you used to make this program portable? That way i can make my own version with MKVExtractGui in it too.
Don't you think that the name for this portable app should be MKVtoolnix instead of MKVmerge? Mkvmerge is just a part of the whole package from mkvtoolnix
The app updated to 5.8.0 sometime in September. Also, if you no longer want to maintain this app, I am willing to start from scratch with my own version. I only offer because of the duration of time that has elapsed since the last update.
