(Windows XP Home SP3)
SeaMonkeyPortable_2.2_English.paf.exe won't install. It never gets started. When I try to open the installer .exe file, it immediately gives a popup saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close:

Notes:
-The MD5 hash of the installer file checks OK, so it's not corrupt.
-I've installed several other portable browsers without problems (Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, etc).
-The SeaMonkey 2.0.14 portable version installer doesn't have this problem. It opens OK and begins the installation process, although I haven't actually installed it.
-I installed SeaMonkey 2.2 portable OK on this same computer in the past. Later I reinstalled my op system clean, now am reinstalling all of my software. There have been relatively few problems, so this problem with SeaMonkey 2.2 portable is a mystery. I haven't a clue.
Any ideas?

Nobody would have guessed it in a month of Sundays! It worked OK after I turned off DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for the installer:

That was just a hunch, a lucky guess. I suppose the question now is why this happens with this particular portable app installer(?).
I think it's because you have an older non-DEP chip but turned on Windows' software-based DEP which is an imperfect substitute.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
