I ran into a few CHM's that are annoying me because my computer are either linux or the windows computer have chm viewing turned off due to a security hole. i really want to convert one of my chm's to a PDF. this will be of no issue for me due to me having access to a PDF print driver.
KCHMviewer is Opensource
Site: http://www.kchmviewer.net/
Dowload link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kchmviewer/files/kchmviewer/
Thanks to anyone who picks this project up or makes any of the other chm viewers portable.
If all you are wanting to do is convert to PDF as a once-off thing, then all you need is to install it (if it will do what you want and the Windows help viewer won't) and use it, then uninstall it if you don't want it any more.

as the windows machines i have access to i do not have the rights to install. thats why i am here and have been here on portable apps for ... going on 7 years now.
I found a side way of doing it. using 7zip portable one can extract the html files that are compressed in the chm file and then convert those into a PDF if one has a professional edition of Adobe. The print feature in windows help viewer would not work and on some computers its now blocked/removed due to a security hole.
It looks interesting, I'll look into it.
i know someone will pipe up and say "you know there is a firefox plugin". firefox got banned at work due to some unnamed person finding out about a ActiveX hole in firefox the hard way using portable firefox 3.5 (;>.>). i wish you luck lord caswell.
